Games physicists play
Cards, cards, cards! But does their physics training affect their play? Caolionn O’Connell admits that she doesn’t know how to score or count cards in bridge, which makes her less than a formidable opponent. And New Quantum Diarist Claire Gray gets sidetracked while playing poker, preferring to write physics equations with her matchsticks.

On the other hand, Bryan Dahmes posts a plot of his winning percentage in cribbage. Not bad!

Finally, Maaike Limper enjoys the computer game World of Warcraft -- but only in the "later hours of the evening because science goes first!" We're sure that all Quantum Diarists would agree.

Presentations physicists give
Warning: Advanced physics follows!
Some Quantum Diarists have offered sneak peaks of their upcoming presentations. Tommaso Dorigo posts his slides on the search for the Higgs boson at Fermilab.

Jochen Weller shows off a conference poster on his recent research in theoretical astrophysics. These guys can sure make great graphs!

Places physicists live (and work)
Quantum Diaries’ two newest bloggers, Sarah Phillips and Claire Gray, post about life as a "Hall C Physicist" at Jefferson Lab in Virginia.

Gordon Watts kicks off a series on living in Seattle, with the intention of persuading his department’s top candidates to accept job offers.

Makoto Fujiwara celebrates the great sushi in Vancouver. "I must admit that this fact, at least subconsciously, affected my decision to accept the offer for my job here!" he writes.
